Chronic Poetics: Anthology
Chronic Poetics is an anthology which gives voice to those who suffer from chronic illnesses and pain, featuring a combination of poetry, essays, photographs, illustration and design, Chronic Poetics explores what it means to live with a chronic condition and what we wish people knew about living with these conditions.
The pieces will be presented as part of a visual narrative exploring themes of disability, inspired by and grounded in the experiences of selected artists.
The role of graphic design is crucial in constructing and communicating healthcare messages around the world, and has the ability to persuade, inform and empower. This collaboration of artistic practice aims to change perceptions and to allow the shared conditions of embodiment to emerge from the text. It’s space exclusively for disabled writers and artists to share their experiences.
We are looking for:
- Poetry: up to 30 lines on chronic illness/pain
- Personal Essays: up to 1000 words about your experience of chronic illness or pain. This could be about before you were diagnosed, your diagnosis, your experience of living through/with your condition or even how you manage it.
