Chronic Poetics: Online

Chronic Poetics is a new anthology published and produced by Point Positive Publishing and Colliding Lines.

The collection exclusively features people with an experience of chronic disability and chronic pain. Featuring essays, prose, illustration and poetry, Chronic Poetics is about what we wish people understood about living with a chronic condition.

Accompanying the print collection is an online appendix, featuring interviews, essays and medical information as an educational resource.

We are asking for submissions to the online anthology.

Selected pieces will be showcased on the project’s site, along with details and additional content provided by the artists about their day-to-day experiences of living with a chronic condition. You will be sent a questionnaire, which also focuses on how an artists’ condition impacts their engagement with the arts and what obstacles / solutions they can identify. Answers to this questionnaire may be shown online in association with your work.

We are looking for:

  • Poetry: up to 30 lines on chronic illness/pain
  • Personal Essays: up to 1000 words about your experience of chronic illness or pain. This could be about before you were diagnosed, your diagnosis, your experience of living through/with your condition or even how you manage it.
  • Artwork or Photography: Images of any dimensions inspired by or about chronic illness and pain. Min. 800 pixels on shortest side.
