Gaze is Ghost + Mouth | HALLE
EN | DE
Laura McGarrigle is a pianist, composer and songwriter born in Northern Ireland. Under recording name Gaze is Ghost she creates gently beautiful, otherworldly music – performing live with piano, voice and vocal loops. She has written musicals, composed soundtracks for animatronic installations in vast London tunnels and performed with dancers, poets and video artists. Her live performances range from candle-lit harmonium recitals in 12th century chapels to immersive, audio-visual set pieces.
Theresa Elflein’s project MOUTH make their Halle debut, following a post-Brexit escape from Brighton (UK) to Leipzig last year. The four-piece art-punk group create structurally subversive, expansively influenced pop, bleeding the lines between Björk, PJ Harvey, The Fall, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Dresden Dolls. In it’s totality, their chameleon sound is fiercely different from any single band you’ll hear – one of the most original prospects to emerge from no scene in particular, obeying no restrictions.
Each performance this evening will be accompanied by film from the Colliding Lines collective, mixed live by Wesley Freeman-Smith.
